Now and then it happens that projects in and around the garden are only happening because out of necessity; e.g. the fence around the vegetable garden had been partially held up by the roses for the last months, so it was time to exchange some of the wooden beams. They had lasted for 11 years, not too bad considering the type of wood and being not weather treated at all. I hope the new ones will also last a decade, but I might have to start exchanging the verticals before that.
