Rose pruning, ctd.

Thanks to a week off the rose pruning is almost finished. I have been hacking my way through the front and back side of the garden. And once I started I got more and more reckless. Now there are only a handful roses left – one more weekend of sweat and bruised hands so to speak.

One of my rose arbors did not stand up to the heavy snowfall and the only way to replace the steel mat I had to pretty much cut down the two ramblers to a couple of stems each side.

And since I have been cutting myself into a frenzy I decided that I might as well tackle the rose tunnel – after over ten years the structure has suffered from the elements and some of the wood is beyond its lifetime.

Now the only thing left to do is to rip out the wooden structure and to replace it. I might call for some help there! But first I need to finish off the rose pruning.
