Now, this is truly an endless winter! The temperatures eased up on us and I was just getting my hopes up for some gardening – when heaven opened and dropped some serious snow!!! It started Friday early morning, by 6 am in the morning we had already 20 cm, by 11 am 40 cm – and by mid afternoon about 47 cm. Fat, heavy snow! The snow shoveling was a real task because it was not possible at all to push the snow – one had to pick up every single load, well .. half load in this case. It was a real task this time.
I had not left home in the morning because when trying to shoveling my way to the garage I had kept hearing voices from the forest right down the road. I decided to wait for the road to be cleared and then head off to work. It turned out to be a very lucky decision; two hours later there was an official note coming in on the phone from the municipality that the roads in both directions passing my house were closed. And they stayed closed til the afternoon next day!
We had lost power around 5.30 am but with the backup of my photovoltaic I had power til the later afternoon. Friday evening was a quiet one with candle light and a book. Thanks to some solar light from my patio I had enough light for reading. The power came back on Saturday close to noon, and once the road opened Saturday afternoon I walked to my parents to borrow the tractor to clear my entrance road.
May it be the last snow for the season! I am done with shoveling! I need to get going on the roses!!!
